Lighting design

Brightness is a need, light is an art.

Light is not an accessory, light makes the room. LIEHT designs lighting starting from the architecture, the use and the people who live and work in it: where do people read, cook, celebrate, work? Which surfaces should glow, which should recede? The result is a lighting concept that we calculate, visualise and build with our own luminaires.

A world-class reference: the Villa on Lake Geneva. 400 square metres of interior, every room individually staged, with ZIRCLE ring luminaires and LEICHTSINN pendants from the manufactory and a multiroom sound system. We bring the same standard to the Herz-Jesu-Kloster Neustadt, to WINEBANK Mainz, to Weingut Spindler and to private lofts. And this is how every light work comes about: in six steps from floor plan to execution.

The creative interplay of light and shadow is our passion. Our aim is to bring human well-being into harmony with architecture. We create places with an individual atmosphere – at the planning office in Rülzheim or at your home.

LIEHT The Lighting Manufactory · [MHG]: bright, radiant, luminous, clear

From a small room to a large-scale project. We advise, we plan and visualise (DIALux), we install, we explain – as a certified DIAL lighting planner. The image shows a lighting calculation in false colours: this way we can see before execution how bright each surface will be.

Step 1 of 6

Lighting consultation

A first meeting at the lighting consultation marks the beginning of this creative process.

In dialogue with the client or architect, a planning goal is defined on the basis of the floor plan.

At our “lighting consultation” we first listen to you and show what we can do. This is the first step towards an individual lighting design.

The initial consultation takes place at our office or at your home.

Step 2 of 6

Lighting concept

The areas discussed are defined and worked out according to the architecture, the use and the desired effect.

Step 3 of 6

Idea book

  • What atmosphere is to be created?
  • Which light sources can be used, and how?
  • Which luminaires can be used?

From our own manufactory, filigree lamps that defer to the architecture come into consideration.

Step 4 of 6

Light work & installation plan

The light work contains concrete and detailed information on the luminaires, with technical data and costs.

The installation plan is a floor plan showing the exact position of all luminaires.

In addition to recessed spotlights, the light work also lists dimmable pendant lights with their control gear and control paths.

Example from a light work, item “7.2 Shelf counter”: recessed spotlight, rotatable and tiltable, 6 W, 540 lm, 2700 K, beam angle 45°, CRI 93 · Power supply: constant-current converter 500 mA, 10 W, DALI-dimmable · Flush ceiling installation without plaster frame, ceiling cut-out 50 mm · Quantity: 6 recessed spotlights, 6 power supplies.

Step 5 of 6

Visualisation with lighting calculation

The lighting calculation, carried out in parallel with the light work, determines energy-efficient lighting conditions that comply with the applicable guidelines.

The visualisation illustrates the lighting calculation.

Calculations use the actual light values of the intended luminaires – for our own LED designer luminaires they come from our own measurements.

Step 6 of 6

Execution

  1. Coordination with the various partners and trades.
  2. Sampling appointment on site.
  3. Procurement of the luminaires and delivery on schedule.

Luminaires of our own production, such as the minimalist lamps of the LEICHTSINN and FREIGEIST series, we deliver directly from Rülzheim.
